Every
woman dreams
of her
special day,
getting the
right “look
and feel”
for your
wedding is
essential
and your
hair is no
exception.
Here are a
few tips for
you.
Planning is
important!
Remember to
make your
booking well
in advance.
It is vital
to emphasise
the
importance
of
appointing a
professional
hairstylist
on our
wedding day;
one of the
most
important
events in
your life.
It is
essential
that you are
relaxed and
serene,
confident in
the hands of
a skilled
expert who
will ensure
that you and
your retinue
will dazzle
your guests!
It is a
comparatively
small amount
of expense
to pay to
make sure
you have a
hairstylist
who is
taking good
care of you.
I do often
have brides
not wanting
a trial
although I
would say
that it is
recommended
so that you
can get a
chance to
meet
beforehand
and more
importantly
so that you
can
experiment
and come up
with the
look that
you are
wanting. Be
brutally
honest with
your
hairstylist
whilst you
are trying
out
different
styles,
remember it
is your big
day and you
have to feel
comfortable
with the
style you
chose. The
finer
details make
all the
difference.
Discuss your
specific
needs and
wants, likes
and
dislikes. I
encourage
you to bring
as many
visuals as
you can,
pictures of
hairstyles
you like
(your idea
of a soft
elegant look
might be
different to
mine), a
picture/sketch
of your
dress, your
veil, any
head gear or
special
clips along.
A full trial
hair styling
session
assures you
that all
your
expectations
are met.
You might be
in love with
a look
that’s hot
this season,
I advise
against
following
anything too
current when
it comes to
your wedding
day. Choose
a style that
suits your
personality,
your dress,
your shape,
not because
it is in
fashion. You
don’t want
to look back
at your
photos and
say “what
was I
thinking!”
If you are
interested
in a new cut
or colour,
don’t wait
until the
night before
your
wedding.
Make the
changes
during the
initial
consultation
(six to four
months
before your
big day) and
have your
colour
touch-up
done about 2
weeks before
the wedding,
so you have
time to fix
any
unpleasant
surprises.
Your veil
length will
have some
influence on
your choice
of hairstyle
and it is
important to
make sure
the style
can hold the
veil in
place. There
are many
different
types of
hair
accessories
like
flowers,
pins, beads
and tiara’s
that can be
used to add
extra
sparkle to
your hair
and you
should
coordinate
them with
the rest of
your jewelry
and dress.
If you are
not sure
about your
veil length
and what
head gear to
use, ask
your stylist
what would
suite your
hair type
the best and
is more
likely to
stay in the
longest,
there is no
point in
having a
beautiful
diamante
clip but it
keeps on
sliding out
causing you
irritation
and making
your hair
style look
shaggy.
Timing
schedule for
the big day
– Firstly
you need to
know if your
photographer
would like
to take
photo’s
whilst you
are getting
ready or if
you should
be ready
when he/she
arrives and
what time
your
photographer
will be
arriving and
how much
time he/she
would like
to spend
with you
taking the
photos. Then
it is easy,
after your
hair trial
your stylist
will be able
to tell how
long it will
take to
re-create
the
hairstyle
and you
simply work
backwards.
It also
depends on
how much
time your
make-up
artist will
need with
you. I
recommend to
give your
hairstylist
about an
hour head
start, then
the make-up
artist can
do the
make-up and
you can have
your
fringe/front
hair and all
over
touch-up
after the
make-up.
